The Challenge

Intelligence teams exist to help organisations anticipate and respond to emerging security and geopolitical threats, protecting their people, assets, and operations.

But these teams are stretched thin.

Highly skilled analysts spend their days overwhelmed by data, pulled in multiple directions, reacting to events instead of anticipating what comes next. This is not a failure of talent or access to information. There is simply insufficient time and tooling to consistently identify weak signals early and act on them.

We’re building a platform that gives analysts that time back, enabling them to track the threats that matter most and take action earlier, with confidence.

What we’re building

An anticipatory intelligence platform that tracks the underlying drivers of geopolitical instability (such as governance breakdown, economic shocks, and social fragmentation) to forecast civil unrest, violence, terrorism, and conflict before they escalate.

We process real-time global signals through AI-powered forecasting models to surface early-warning indicators and significantly amplify what intelligence teams can achieve.

This is not a dashboard. It is a decision-support system designed for real-world intelligence and risk teams.

Who we are

Victoria Intelligence was founded by a former corporate intelligence leader with over a decade of experience building and running intelligence functions for major international organisations.

The company began as a consultancy, working directly with intelligence teams to help them build and mature their intelligence programmes. Through that work, a consistent pattern emerged: teams were stretched thin, overwhelmed by information, and lacked the time and tooling to act early. That insight led to a deliberate shift toward building software designed to support intelligence teams at scale.

Where we’re at

This is not a vague idea or an untested hypothesis.

The problem is validated, the methodology is established, and there is strong market demand. Multiple organisations, including Fortune Global 500 companies, major international organisations, and risk management firms, are keen to pilot the platform.

You would be building something customers are actively waiting to use.

Who we’re looking for

A founding engineer who has built real systems under real constraints and knows how to make sound trade-offs in early-stage environments.

You don’t need to meet every requirement, but you should recognise yourself in most of the following:

  • 5+ years building and owning production systems (SaaS, data platforms, AI/ML)

  • Experience in early-stage startups (founding engineer, first 10 hires, or equivalent level of ownership)

  • Strong backend foundation: Python, FastAPI (or similar), and modern data architectures

  • Hands-on experience with NLP and/or LLM-powered systems

  • Comfortable designing systems end-to-end, from architecture and ingestion to ML pipelines and deployment

  • Pragmatic, opinionated, and able to ship while things are still evolving

  • Clear communicator who thrives in ambiguity rather than being blocked by it

What you’ll build

As the founding engineer, you will own the technical direction of the platform and be responsible for translating validated demand into a working, production-ready product.

This includes:

  • Real-time data ingestion processing large volumes of global events

  • Scalable backend architecture (Python, FastAPI, modern ML/NLP frameworks)

  • ML pipelines for dynamic threat forecasting and early-warning indicators

  • A pilot-ready, enterprise-grade platform used by real intelligence teams

  • The technical foundations for an engineering team you will help build and lead over time

How we’ll work together

You will work directly alongside the CEO and have full ownership of technical decisions, including what is built, how it is built, and what is intentionally deferred.

Strategic direction, customer insight, and intelligence methodology will come from the CEO. Technical execution, architecture, and delivery will be led by you. The expectation is close collaboration, regular progress updates, and open communication, without micromanagement.

We will move quickly and optimise for shipping something that works in the real world.

This is a true founding role, not a delivery-only position.
